Encoding - VOD
Question
Hello folks,
We’re using the Bitmovin CDN encodings output and wondering how to delete content from there. Deleting the encoding itself doesn’t help, the manifests are still playable.

@Lukasz.Bajorski Currently, it is not possible to delete manifests from the CDN, and you will only be charged based on views. Could you please share the reason or use case for wanting to delete the content?
Hi Kishore,
Thanks for the info. Let me split my answer into three aspects (one is new).
-
The content owners need to have full rights over their content, including the possibility to delete it from our and our partners’ storage, hence the need for an ability to delete the content (not only the manifests, but more importantly the encoded video and audio files)
-
That is especially important when we provide encoded but not drm-encrypted content (like movie trailers). If we cannot delete or restrict access to those files then anybody with a link could play them forever using Bitmovin CDN (which we will pay for, since you mentioned we are charged based on views - unless that’s true only if one uses our Bitmovin player?)
-
Good to know there are no cost of storage, however we assumed that there will be some based on the info on the Streams PAYG Monthly pricing plan (see below). Could you comment on that?
"
Storage & CDN
- $0.0245 / GB of storage
- $0.015 / GB of CDN (worldwide)

Hello Kishore,
Any update on that from your end?
Cheers,
Łukasz
Hi any update of this? This is also important for us. We encode on demand user content and we store it the results in the Bitmovin CDN. If the user wanna deletes their content then we should also remove it from Bitmovin in order to avoid extra costs of storage.
I also understood in the past that you charge extra money for storage:
$0.0245 / GB of storage
$0.015 / GB of CDN (worldwide)
