DRM content is not playing on facebook android in app browser

Hello there,

I am facing a strange issue with the Player. The video doesn’t play in the Facebook browser ( Android phones ) I am seeing a DRM_MEDIA_KEY_INITIALIZATION_FAILED also, I have checked the docs DRM_MEDIA_KEY_INITIALIZATION_FAILED | Bitmovin Player API 8.141.0 and I can tell I am using the correct DRM key com.widevine.alpha

Please refer the screenshot.

Top of that I have tested this on many devices and it all works in browsers and Facebook in-app browsers. However, there are some devices that are not able to play the videos. My guess is that somehow the user’s device lacks permission to access one or more system resources.

Can you please help?

Could you please try launching this website (DRM test) on the Facebook browser and check if it supports Widevine?

Please follow these steps:

1. Open the website in the Facebook browser.
2. Scroll to the bottom of the page.
3. Look for the “EME is supported by your current browser” section.
4. If Widevine is listed as a supported DRM, then the browser supports Widevine.

I was looking at the same problem. I created a private post with the DRM Stream Test URL on my profile. I took the following screenshot:

Opening it in an external browser works fine.
