Does Player support 5.1 ch Dolby audio?

Hi

I’m using Bitmovin for iOS, Android, Web Player.

Does Player support 5.1 ch Dolby audio?

I searched about it in Encoding document but there’s no refer in Player documents.

Please let me know about this.

Dolby audio(5.1 Ch) is a audio codec. The support for codec is dependent on the codecs supported by the platform/device. There is no limitation from player to support it if the underlying platform/device supports the same.

So Bitmovin player on all platforms iOS, Android and Web is capable of playing Dolby audio tracks as long as the device supports the codec and the encoded profile.

Additionally, player will filter out the audio tracks if these are not supported by the device. So if the content has multiple audio codec renditions(for example a stereo AAC as well as Dolby 5.1), depending on the device codec support, player will allow playback of supported audio renditions in general.
