At Bitmovin, we are constantly modernizing our Products by adding new capabilities and new features to our SDKs. While we attempt to provide wider support where possible, it is Bitmovin’s practice to drop official support for older native operating systems. (See our Device Support Page).
As a result, official support for the iOS/tvOS Player SDK for iOS/tvOS 14 operating system versions will be withdrawn with an upcoming Player release in September 2026.
Raising the minimum Deployment Target allows Bitmovin to leverage modern iOS capabilities and continue delivering high-quality playback solutions across supported devices.
Closer to this release, more information will be made available in Bitmovin Player documentation and release notes, as well as via the Bitmovin Developer Community.
What does this mean?
While you can continue using prior versions of our SDK to target iOS/tvOS 14 devices, Bitmovin will not provide any new fixes and features for iOS/tvOS 14, and newer versions of the Bitmovin iOS Player SDK will not function on iOS/tvOS 14 operating system versions.
The final version number before iOS/tvOS 14 support is dropped will be communicated closer to the time.
