# How to hide controls on PREPARED and show on Hover/Tap?

Hi,

How to hide controls on PREPARED (.bmpui-player-state-prepared) and show on Hover/Tap?

I tried in the conf:  
playback: {  
hideControls: true  
},  
But this has no effect.

Hi Pete,

Looking at the [playbackConfig documentation](https://cdn.bitmovin.com/player/web/8/docs/interfaces/core_config.playbackconfig.html), there is no `hideControls` property, hence I wouldn’t expect it to work 🙂

This can be configured where the UI components are put together. The relevant property is the `hidePlayerStateExceptions` array. In the default UI, the player state `Prepared` is included; if you remove that you should get your desired behavior.

I found the hideControl option somewhere in the documentation, but don’t find it anymore now. 🤔

Ah, could be that this property was present in older web player major versions (v6 or even older).  
Glad my feedback helped, thanks for letting me know.
